We all have tales to tell from our travels. Most are enjoyable moments and therefore good to share. If you have any stories to share involving language difficulties then we would love to hear from you. Send them to us at enquiries@LangCommLingo.com and we'll post them on our website. Funny, embarrassing, awkward or serious, please send them over especially if LangCommLingo saved the day - or perhaps would have saved the day had you known about us. Pretty much any format will do, including video and pictures. Happy trails!!
"My name is Roberto, I am Italian.I have been using LangCommLingo when I travel and I love it. It is very useful.I meet other Europeans during my travels and sometimes they make fun of me for using Lingo. Look at this story, it happened recently in California.I was having the breakfast with a group of newly met French friends. When time came for them to order breakfast with the waitress, I listened and smiled. Their English speaking was good enough but a few times the waitress looked shocked. They were trying their best but when they answered to “how would you like your eggs cooked?” they answered:”well made “She took it personally and I laughed even more. I make those mistakes too, that is why I have my LangCommLingo. Because sometimes it is better to have a pro in my pocket than guessing and getting in trouble…….PS: the waitress explained the difference between well made and well done, and we avoided a terrible misunderstanding"….Grazzie mille LCL. "Marie T. Merci Lingo. Lingo is great service to all of us who don’t speak English too well. When I travel to England and Scotland (my favorite destinations) I always have my Lingo with me. When we leave school we think we speak well the English language but when we are in the foreign countries we realize we are not that good at it. With Lingo I have an interpreter in my pocket and it is very helpful. I had to go to a hospital and I never learned the hospital words in school, but with Lingo I got a lot of help and it was a little nothing but I had to see the doctor anyway. I like having Lingo it is like travel insurance or seat belts, always have it with you"……Marie T (Carcassonne France)
"From an American in South Korea. I had my LangCommLingo account but hadn’t yet had the need to use it, then I had a trip to South Korea and it was a life saver. It appeared that when I was going to leave the country my visa was not in order according to the authorities although I was certain it was. Initially the authorities did not want to let me leave the country to head back to Japan where I was a studying. I got very frustrated as I could not understand what was being said so I was able to use a telephone and call into LangCommLingo. The Korean interpreter explained the situation to me and it turned out to be a minor issue which would not prevent me from leaving the country, for whatever reason, and I will never know, they wanted to make things difficult for me, but thanks to my pocket interpreter I got things sorted out and went back to Japan. Hats off to LangCommLingo!" ….Tony A.
"On a recent trip to the Middle East I had an issue with the immigration officers. I had a resident visa which had expired as I was out of the country for more than 6 months so when I entered the country again they took me into the officers’ office. There I was after a 16 hour trip with no sleep sitting with 4 officials who were inspecting my passport and making phone calls. They did not speak much English and I do not speak Arabic so it was very frustrating. I called my business partner, a local Emirati, but he was unavailable so thank goodness I had Lingo. I called up Lingo and the Arabic interpreter came on the line and explained the situation to me. He advised that they had to retain my passport as the visa expired and I would have to go to the immigration office the following day to fill out paperwork and collect my passport. In a country where I feel very comfortable I found myself in a situation where foreign officials were taking my passport and I had to trust that I would get it back the following day. Without LangCommLingo I would have been a nervous wreck"……Jenny B from Pittsburgh
"Hey there LCLingo people, Mike here from San Diego. Guess how much I cherished my buddy Stan for pushing hard on me to get this LangCommLingo account. I was in Phuket Thailand a couple weeks ago and if you’ve ever been there you know a lot of people speak English. Yes a lot do, but not all the local police. My travelers checks got stolen along with some cash the second night I got there. I needed to get a police report in order to get the checks canceled and get new ones. So when I walked into the local police station I realized I was facing a challenge. Well that was until I remembered I had Lingo and then things turned pretty smooth. Even the cops were impressed and the guy I was dealing with called his colleagues to listen to part of the conversation. He wanted to impress them. And I was impressed as well. So impressed I bought extra presents for my buddy Stan. You have no idea how this simple thing saved the day and my entire trip."Mike
